Privacy Policy

Effective from 3 July 2026 · v3

Last Updated: 3 July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how U-Crew ("we," "our," or "us") collects, processes, and protects your personal data when you use our mobile application ("App"). By using U-Crew, you consent to the practices described below.

Information We Collect

A. Personal Information

We collect the following when you register or use U-Crew:

  • Name, email, phone number (provided directly or via social login).
  • Professional details (e.g., work history, skills, education).
  • Profile data (e.g., bio, profile picture, social media links).

B. Social Login Data

If you sign in via Google, Meta (Facebook/Instagram), or Apple, we collect:

  • Google — name, email, profile picture (if public). Used for account creation and profile setup.
  • Meta (Facebook / Instagram) — name, email, profile picture (if shared). Used for identity verification and profile sync.
  • Apple — name, email (private relay optional). Used for secure login and communication.

We do not access your social media friends, posts, or private messages. You can revoke access anytime via your social account settings.

C. Psychometric & Behavioural Data

To assess personality and aptitude, we analyse your interactions and CV content to generate behavioural insights. Specifically, we analyse:

  • In-app interactions (task responses, communication style).
  • Problem-solving approaches (e.g., time spent on challenges).
  • Engagement patterns (e.g., consistency, teamwork tendencies).

D. Technical & Usage Data

We collect:

  • Device info (OS, model, IP address).
  • App crashes and performance logs (via Supabase, Sentry, and platform crash reporting).
  • Location data (if enabled for job matching and nearby events).

E. Subscription & Purchase Data

When you buy a U-Crew Pro subscription, the purchase is processed by Apple as the merchant of record — we do not receive or store your payment card details. We receive your subscription status (such as your plan, whether it is active or expired, and its renewal date) via our subscription provider, RevenueCat, so we can unlock Pro features for your account. This data is used only to manage your entitlement and is retained while your account is active.

How We Use Your Data

We use your data for the following purposes:

  • Account creation — using social login data and email, on the basis of your consent.
  • Psychometric profiling — using behavioural interactions, on the basis of our legitimate interest in providing you with personalised insights.
  • Employer matching — using your profile and analysis (shared only with your consent), on the basis of your request.
  • App improvement — using anonymised usage trends, on the basis of our legitimate interest in improving the service.

Key Use Cases

Employer Sharing: your full profile (including psychometric insights) is only shared with employers at your explicit request.

Anonymised Analytics: aggregated data is used for research (e.g., "60% of engineers score high in logical reasoning").

Automated Decision-Making & Profiling

We use your quiz responses to build a psychometric/energy profile, and we use profile and activity data to suggest relevant jobs, connections, and content. These processes help inform suggestions — they do not make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about you solely by automated means without human involvement. You can ask us how your profile is generated, object to profiling, and request that a person review any outcome you are concerned about (see "Your Rights & Controls").

Data Sharing & Third Parties

Employer Access

Employers cannot view your profile unless you approve a match. You can revoke access anytime in settings.

Service Providers

We share data with trusted service providers who process it on our behalf:

  • Hosting and database — Supabase (encrypted storage, EU-hosted).
  • Authentication — Supabase Auth (credential storage and session management).
  • Error monitoring — Sentry (anonymised stack traces).
  • Analytics — Google Analytics and in-app event logging (anonymised where possible).
  • AI and CV parsing — Anthropic (used to extract and structure CV content you upload).
  • Maps and location — Geoapify, Apple Maps, and Google Maps (for standby map and location features).
  • Payments — Stripe or PayPal (where applicable).

Anonymised Data Sharing with Partners

We aggregate and anonymise user data (e.g., psychometric trends, industry skills gaps) to share with research institutions, employers, or industry partners for statistical analysis. This data cannot identify you personally and is used to:

  • Highlight workforce trends (e.g., "Top traits in tech roles").
  • Improve hiring practices industry-wide.

Examples of shared data: average problem-solving scores by profession, regional differences in communication styles.

We may sell or license anonymised, aggregated datasets to third parties (e.g., HR analytics firms, universities) for research or commercial purposes. These partners are contractually prohibited from attempting to re-identify individuals.

Legal Compliance: data may be disclosed if required by law (e.g., court orders).

Your Rights & Controls

You can:

  • Access, correct, or delete your data.
  • Download your psychometric profile (Settings > Data Export).
  • Disconnect social logins (via U-Crew or the platform).
  • Opt out of employer visibility (Profile > Privacy).

To exercise your rights, contact us at hello@u-crew.co.uk.

Security & Retention

Encryption

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest (AES-256) by our infrastructure providers including Supabase.

Retention

Psychometric data is retained until account deletion. Social login data is retained until you revoke access.

International Data Transfers

We are based in the United Kingdom, and your data is primarily stored in the UK and EEA. Some of our service providers — including Apple and our subscription provider RevenueCat — process data in the United States or other countries. Where we transfer personal data outside the UK or EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as UK/EU Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision, so that your data continues to receive an equivalent level of protection.

Children's Privacy

U-Crew is not for users under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

Policy Updates

Any changes to this policy will be notified via email or an in-app banner. Continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of these changes.
